Hi everyone…As you know I’m a bit of a multi-passionate person with a variety of projects and narratives smooshed into my one wild and precious life. I want to make my podcasts and interviews free to anyone (btw, please subscribe, like, comment, share…to keep the algorithm moving in a way that I’m not lost in the field.) I also need to monetize where I can, so I am going to make my more personal blogs and posts subscription based. Absolutely no pressure for those who have been on my mailing list for some time or for those who just want to hear the podcasts…I appreciate your being here and don’t want to change that. However if you want to be in on the inner thoughts and journey and behind-the-scenes, I am going to use my Substack as a personal diary too. You are welcome to join in with your paid subscription if you like extras. I appreciate you being here with me regardless.
This past weekend, I time-travelled through a very special portal once again…and found myself at the latest NostalgiaCon at the Anaheim Convention Center. As I live in the OC, it wasn’t so far to travel this time, but have no doubt, it was an entirely different world inside that space. So many talented people and their fans…I was lucky to be included. Of course this is still surreal to me, as this is only my second convention. And the character that I voiced in my 20s somehow had a huge life beyond my creative work. She still does. I mean, what’s not to love about DeeDee? Some of the words I heard this weekend were “Iconic” and “Legendary.” Really? I know this on some level, but on a bigger level, it’s too wild to take in, even after all this time. Perhaps its because I don’t ever really know the effect I have on others, for better or worse, unless they tell me. Even then, it usually doesn’t sink in. But perhaps thats the fun of it for me. I have no expectations, just experiences. And being the voice on such a special show for so many young people, most of them now adults, sometimes with their own children…well that’s a legacy I never expected, 30 years ago, that I would be leaving. After all, I haven’t been in the entertainment industry since the early 2000s.
