“All things in this world are composed of three principles—mercury, sulphur, and salt.”
— Paracelsus (“Father of Modern Medicine”) c. 1530
I haven’t painted a new alchemical picture in awhile. But finally, I had the focus and was able. The writing tends to come later (if it happens at all.)
Developing this orange-and-purple piece, which I adore for the most part, absolutely loving the color scheme. Red-orange, lavender, and gold? Who knew what a nice combination that would be? So that’s fun! I was thinking of living with my family of three here this summer…and when I was the briefly only-child of my parents so long ago…and of course, the Holy Trinity… and boxing gloves sorting out a tryst… and wriggling coral snakes or are they sock puppets?…and wrecking balls for change…and kettle balls for strength…and now, heart-rates and tension…and ultimately, a reliable signature of balance.
Phew. Here we are, for now, as balanced as we can be… and proud of it!
I'm reminded of sperm and egg, the beginning of life, the alchemy of life. Recent research believes that the idea of the strongest sperm fertilizing the egg is outdated and patriarchal. What really happens is that the egg chooses which one to allow in. So in my mind 3 is catalytic, gender and choice. I love how your inspirational work can be interpreted in so many ways. Keep radiating your brilliance Xx
I absolutely love this!! Thank you for bringing me joy this morning and always with your beautiful talents!!!
